Amazon Amplifies Its Pharmaceutical Strategy
Amazon Pharmacy has unveiled a new caregiver feature, making it easier for customers to manage their medications and for trusted individuals to assist in the process. This innovative solution is designed to help millions of customers across the United States who are on Medicare insurance, as well as those with complex medication regimens.
The caregiver feature allows customers to invite their chosen caregiver by providing their mobile phone number within their Amazon Pharmacy account. The caregiver will then receive a secure SMS link, enabling them to manage medications remotely and securely through their own Amazon account.
With this setup, caregivers can handle medication orders, delivery tracking, and management, providing peace of mind and ensuring better adherence to medication routines. The feature offers several benefits, including secure and verified access, delivery tracking, and ongoing updates via text or email. It is particularly useful for caregivers who do not live with the patient or have multiple responsibilities.
Amazon Pharmacy's caregiver feature is part of its broader strategy to simplify medication management and improve integration. By coordinating refill schedules and delivering pre-sorted, labeled medication packets right to the customer's door, Amazon Pharmacy aims to make medication management simpler, more accessible, and more convenient.
To enroll in PillPack from Amazon Pharmacy, customers can log into their Amazon Pharmacy account and click "Sign up for PillPack." With this expansion, more than 50 million Medicare Part D beneficiaries are now eligible to use their insurance for PillPack from Amazon Pharmacy.
Amazon Pharmacy's PillPack service has been ranked No. 2 on Progressive Grocer's 2025 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America. The company has also been named among PG's Retailers of the Century and appeared on its Most Sustainable Grocers list.
