In a significant development, Envoke, a UK-based company, has raised an additional £1 million in investment. This funding round was supported by NPIF - Mercia Equity Finance, which contributed £500,000, and Finance Yorkshire's Seedcorn Fund, which added another £500,000.

Founded in 2019, Envoke originated from a film and animation production firm. Initially designed for product demonstrations, it was later developed for remote training and aftersales. The platform is now used by leading device manufacturers such as Bio-Rad, Waters Corporation, PacBio, Grifols, and the Terumo Group, and in laboratories worldwide, including the NHS, other health services, and leading universities.

Envoke's platform creates a virtual model of each medical laboratory machine and offers e-learning on medical devices, remote support, and an AI-powered diagnosis tool for troubleshooting. This innovative approach is designed to improve productivity by enhancing staff skills, keeping equipment up and running, and reducing warranty costs for manufacturers.

The latest funding will allow the business to enhance the system, boost sales and marketing, and roll it out to more customers in preparation for a Series A investment. The company has won numerous new clients following the launch of a new module, resulting in almost doubling its annual recurring revenue in the past 12 months.

Envoke currently employs 11 staff and plans to create two new jobs in the coming months. The Development Bank of Wales also supported a medtech business with a £500,000 investment, details not specified. Finance Yorkshire, a new investment partner, has expressed support for Envoke, applauding its success as part of the growing technology and AI sector in Yorkshire and Humber.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund project, which supports this investment, is financially supported by the European Union. The European Investment Bank also supports the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund project.

Investments from Finance Yorkshire are expected to total £50 million by 2027. This news comes as several medical device manufacturing companies have received recent funding for platform development and expansion. For instance, Kestra Medical Technologies completed its IPO in March 2025, raising $202 million to expand its wearable cardiovascular platform. Shoulder Innovations raised $40 million in a Series E funding round in March 2025 aimed at developing medical devices.

U.S.-based digital health startups, including medical devices, attracted $6.4 billion in venture funding during the first half of 2025 across 245 deals, showing increasing average deal sizes, partly fueled by AI-enabled solutions. These examples indicate a trend where medical device funding is focused not only on hardware but also on platform and software development integrating AI and real-time data analytics to enhance patient care and device functionality.

In conclusion, the investment in Envoke is a testament to the potential of UK-based technology companies and the growing interest in medical device platform innovation. The company's success is a significant step forward in improving productivity, enhancing staff skills, and reducing costs in the medical device sector, ultimately leading to better patient care.
