Bavaria's 'Psychiatry Enquiry' Week Aims to Raise Awareness, Promote Reform
The Regional Steering Consortium Landshut is hosting a week of action, 'Psychiatry Enquiry', from October 13 to 16. This event aims to raise awareness about mental illnesses and promote psychiatric reform in Bavaria. The week will conclude with a free theater performance, thanks to donations and sponsors.
The action week began with a ceremonial act and keynote speech by Dr. Kathrin Dornes, the first chairwoman of the Regional Steering Consortium, on October 13. Following this, the film 'When Will It Finally Be Like It Never Was' was screened for free. The week continues with film screenings, including 'The Son' on October 14, which explores the relationship between a father and his depressed teenage son, and 'The Rausch' on October 15, about an alcohol experiment and its consequences, both with an 8 euro cost contribution.
The Psychiatry Enquiry in 1975 marked the start of psychiatric reform in Germany. Today, around a quarter of Bavarians live with a mental illness, according to the latest Bavarian Psychiatry Report. The action week seeks to bring mental illnesses into the everyday lives of citizens and pursue the goals of the Bavarian Psychiatry Plans.
The action week will conclude on October 16 with a theater performance of 'All That Beauty', offering free admission thanks to generous donations and sponsorship. The week's events aim to foster understanding and support for those affected by mental illnesses, contributing to the ongoing psychiatric reform in Bavaria.
