Casino Supervisor in Las Vegas, where the New York City shooter was employed, allegedly purchased a firearm and sold it to him, claims a law enforcement official.

In a shocking turn of events, a shooting occurred at 345 Park Avenue in New York City on a recent day. The attack, which claimed the lives of four individuals and injured another, has left the city reeling.

The shooter, identified as Shane Devon Tamura, 27, opened fire before taking his own life. Tamura was employed at a casino in Las Vegas, and it was there that he legally purchased an M4 assault-style rifle, a civilian AR-15 type weapon, from a supervisor on the casino's surveillance team.

The supervisor, who has cooperated with authorities, also sold Tamura the BMW used in his cross-country travel leading up to the shooting. While adults over 18 in Nevada can buy firearms legally without a permit, all gun sales require a background check. However, it remains unclear if a background check was conducted for the private sale between the supervisor and Tamura.

Julia Hyman, an associate at Rudin Management, was one of the victims. She was a 2020 graduate from Cornell University. Another victim, Aland Etienne, was a security officer and described as a "light" in his family's lives.

The attack at the Park Avenue skyscraper is the deadliest event recorded in New York City since at least 2013. The city's police department is sending investigators to Las Vegas to learn more about the shooter's possible motive.

The tragedy has also affected the NFL community. Didarul Islam, a Bangladeshi immigrant and off-duty NYPD officer working security in the building, was hailed as a hero by city officials. He was killed in the line of duty. A funeral for Islam is scheduled for Thursday morning in the Bronx. The NFL's New York office will remain closed until at least the end of next week. The NFL employee who was seriously injured in the shooting is in stable condition in the hospital.

In a show of solidarity, a large gathering of New York City police officers and community members lined the streets outside the Jame Masjid mosque in the Bronx to honour slain officer Didarul Islam.

Meanwhile, the widow of the shooter, a mother of two expecting her third child, asked for prayers at a vigil for the victims. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the shooting and the shooter's motives.
