Charity Organization in Lanark, Leeds Grenville Launches 40 Days of Giving Fundraising Campaign, Celebrating 40 Years of Service in the Community Against Alzheimer's Disease

The Alzheimer's Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville is inviting the community to join its 40 Days of Giving fundraiser, running from August 8 to September 17, 2025. This campaign aims to raise $10,000 to support the society's mission of alleviating the impact of dementia in the local community.

For 40 years, the Alzheimer's Society has been serving the community, providing essential services and resources to individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, their families, and caregivers. The society's services, including programs, offer opportunities for social interaction and engagement that are beneficial for the health and quality of life of participants.

The educational part of the organization helps businesses serving and supporting those with Alzheimer's and other dementias. An example of this is the dementia-friendly communities' program, which supports businesses and their staff in making their organization dementia-friendly for those using their services. This initiative aims to reduce stigma around cognitive declines and make communities more Alzheimer's and dementia friendly.

The 40 Days of Giving fundraiser encourages participants to save one dollar per day between Aug. 8 and Sept. 17 and then make an online donation for $40. This donation can support various services, such as two days of the adult day program, coffee and snacks for a support group, entertainment for a program, or a day's worth of craft supplies for participants. Community donations help sustain and expand the services offered by the society, offsetting program fees for those who cannot afford them.

Last year, the society had approximately 10,000 visits across its programming. The programs provided by the society offer opportunities for social interaction and engagement that are beneficial for the health and quality of life of participants. The society also often goes into the community to share education and awareness about Alzheimer's and other dementias.

The Alzheimer's Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville also offers support for families and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. The funds raised will help bring hope and empowerment to individuals living with Alzheimer's and other dementias, as well as their caregivers.

As Alzheimer's and other dementias are on the rise in Canada, the growth of services comes as a necessity. The society aims to continue expanding its services to meet the increasing demand. By participating in the 40 Days of Giving fundraiser, community members can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.
