Angry Mum Slams Police for Returning Dangerous Dog After Attacking Her Daughter

A MOTHER'S outrage erupted after police delivered her neighbor's dog back to their doorstep following an aggressive attack on her terrified daughter.

Despite the Chow Chow dog chasing the young girl into their Bradford, West Yorkshire home and biting her on the living room floor, the officers have returned the beast to its owners.

Horrific Encounter

Hawwa-Jannat Ibrahim, a 10-year-old schoolgirl, was merely collecting a parcel from her neighbor's house when the dog made a break for it, giving pursuit.

The traumatized girl managed to make it back into her own home, but the unrelenting dog followed, resulting in a vicious bite on the living room floor.

The attack left Hawwa-Jannat's sister in a state of shock, screaming as the incident unfolded.

Wounds on the poor girl's inner leg were treated by sealing them in hospital, and the ordeal left her unable to climb stairs due to the intense pain.

She was forced to miss two weeks of school as a result of her injuries.

Parent's Torment

Sofia Mehrban, a mum-of-three, expressed her distress over the terror her daughter experiences every time there's a parcel or a letter.

The frightened girl can hear the dreaded dog barking and running around in the house, filled with trepidation at the thought of the beast invading her home.

With her daughter left scarred mentally, Sofia lamented, "It's like she's in prison inside her own home."

She went on to describe the torment her two-year-old daughter faces as well, quivering at the sight of the front or back door.

Dismissed Complaints

Following the distressing incident, Sofia voiced her concerns to the police. However, she claimed they exhibited an utter disregard for her plight, taking "absolutely no action."

Three days after the incident, the dog was seized by the authorities, only to be returned to its owners ten days later under three conditions. A sign is to be posted at the front of the home, a baby gate installed, and the owners must attend a dog training course.

Displeased with the meager conditions, Sofia has demanded the dog to be re-trained, re-housed, or put down, citing concerns for her children's well-being.

The Silent Watch

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson acknowledged the incident and confirmed that "a statement from the victim wasn't taken and an appointment was made for the next day, but this was not carried out."

They added that the dog was seized and the owner admitted to being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control.

Sofia continues to advocated for her family's safety, insisting that "right now, it's put down or removed from next door."

While the enforcement of laws regarding dangerous dogs can vary based on specific circumstances and deliver a range of consequences, it is clear that in this instance, the law has not provided sufficient protection for the child at the heart of this ordeal.

The mother, Sofia Mehrban, urged for more stringent action in the 'health-and-wellness' and 'general-news' sectors, especially in cases of dangerous pets, as she expressed concerns over the safety of her children following the attack. The lack of immediate action taken by the police could potentially lead to further 'crime-and-justice' issues, as Sofia called for the re-training, re-housing, or euthanasia of the dog involved in the attack. In light of this incident, debates regarding the enforcement of laws related to 'science', such as animal behavior and welfare, could be resurfaced to ensure the protection of vulnerable individuals in similar situations.
