Ullrich Speaks Up About Bike Accident: "Plowed Head-On into Me"

Collision account described by Ullrich: 'Directly into my path' - Collision leaves Ullrich referring to it as a "direct impact to the forehead."

Hey there!

So, the legendary former Tour de France winner, Jan Ullrich, has finally broken the silence about his recent cycling mishap. Apparently, he got hit by a car last week, leaving him with a fractured fibula, some bruises, and a spot or two of road rash.

In a candid chat on his podcast "Ulle & Rick" with fellow cyclist Rick Zabel, Ullrich shared the details. According to him, he was simply taking a leisurely spin around the block, nearly home, when - you guessed it - a motorist attempting a turn didn't spot him and smashed right into him on the left side.

As of Wednesday, Ullrich was still puttering around in the hospital in Freiburg. Despite the pain and multiple wound drains he had to contend with (four just the day before), he plans to make an appearance at the "Jan Ullrich Cycling Festival" in Bad Dürrheim this weekend. But don't expect to see him on a bike.
