Sodexo UK & Ireland, a leading player in the food services and facilities management industry, has been making significant strides in promoting employee wellbeing and sustainability, thanks in part to its strategic partnership with YuLife, a tech-driven insurance and employee benefits provider.

The collaboration, which began in 2021, is part of Havas Group UK's objective to create a differentiated workplace experience that positively impacts employee health and wellbeing. Since its inception, Sodexo employees have made a substantial impact through various initiatives. They have planted 4,000 trees, removed 222,000 kg of plastic from the sea, donated 3,300 meals, and donated 2 million litres of clean water through the YuLife app.

Moreover, Sodexo employees have logged a combined total of 8 billion steps using the YuLife app, indicating a commitment to physical activity, a key component of overall wellbeing. They have also recorded 191,000 hours of meditation, underscoring their focus on mental health.

Bill Buchan, HR Director of Sodexo UK & Ireland, emphasised the importance of colleague wellbeing for workplace thriving, stating that YuLife contributes significantly to this.

The partnership has also extended to the Institute of Directors (IoD), with Sodexo providing its 20,000 director-level members with free access to YuLife's award-winning app and wellbeing services.

Sodexo's environmental and social initiatives, potentially including wellbeing, have been instrumental in securing industry recognition. In 2025, Sodexo was recognised as Sustainable Business of the Year at the Cateys Awards, suggesting its ongoing commitment to innovative and impactful wellbeing initiatives, likely supported by partnerships such as with YuLife.

Looking ahead, Sodexo plans to host its Long Service Awards later in the year, where colleagues reaching service milestones of 20, 30, 40, and 50 years will be celebrated.

In addition, Sodexo employees have earned a total of 119 million YuCoins, YuLife's reward currency, through everyday wellbeing activities. These YuCoins have been spent by employees on high-street shopping vouchers, with the top three retailers chosen being Amazon, Tesco, and Marks and Spencer.

While a comprehensive case study on the specific impact of YuLife’s gamified benefits on Sodexo’s employee wellbeing indicators is not publicly available, detailed reports can be found directly through Sodexo’s corporate communications or YuLife’s impact reporting.

The collaboration between Sodexo UK & Ireland and YuLife was highlighted during World Wellbeing Week (23–27 June 2025), which focused on employee wellbeing enhanced through this collaboration. Sodexo's recognition as Sustainable Business of the Year at the Cateys Awards in 2025 underscores the success of these initiatives.
