Coordinated enforcement actions by both customs authorities and Ingolstadt city officials on tobacco regulations
Ingolstadt Authorities and Customs Office Crack Down on Illicit Tobacco Trade
On April 16, a joint operation between the city of Ingolstadt and the local customs office was undertaken to enforce compliance with the Tobacco Products Act and Tobacco Tax Act within the city's boundaries.
The primary objective of this joint action was to verify adherence to legal regulations in the retailing of tobacco products and related goods, and to remove unlawful items from the market.
A total of 16 officials from the customs office, along with the municipal department of public order, trade, and consumer protection, participated in the inspections of ten businesses scattered throughout the city.
During the inspections, the officials confiscated around 150 banned disposable e-cigarettes and approximately 46 kilograms of non-trafficking snus products, nicotine pouches, and similar merchandise. Consequently, several criminal and administrative offense proceedings were initiated.
This joint effort underscores the strong collaboration between the customs office and the city of Ingolstadt in safeguarding consumer protection and upholding legal regulations. It serves to curtail the illicit trade in tobacco products and guarantees that only compliant goods are marketed.
