A powerful magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Cebu, Philippines on Tuesday night, leaving the country reeling from its deadliest quake in at least a decade.
The Philippine Red Cross swiftly mobilised, conducting rapid assessments and emergency responses to aid those affected. As of Thursday, the death toll had risen to 72, with over 300 people injured.
The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has stepped in to provide assistance, contributing S$50,000 (US$38,800) to support emergency relief efforts. The SRC is also in discussions to dispatch water filters to affected communities, though the specific organisation involved is yet to be confirmed.
The Cebu earthquake, the country's deadliest since at least 2013, has left a significant impact. The Philippine Red Cross and international aid, such as that from the Singapore Red Cross, are crucial in aiding recovery and relief efforts.
