A Teenage Weight Loss Saga
Once upon a time, I was a chubby kid, teased every day. My school pals called me Moppel, Schwabbel, and Pummel. Desperate for a change, I concocted an unusual diet—eating an apple four times a day at precise hours. I'd occasionally cheat with a pear. Reflecting on it now, my apple-only diet was as smart as attempting to transport a giraffe on a cargo bike, but back then, I was desperate to present myself as a viable choice on the dating scene.
After seven grueling weeks, I collapsed during a trip in a London department store. Exhaustion overtook me.
The Italian Turnaround
My buddies helped me up and dragged me to an all-you-can-eat Italian restaurant. I managed a meager 2 cm of pizza crust. Over the next two months, I lost almost 12 kg. Since then, I've never tipped the scales again. My self-discipline demonstrated that such suffering was a one-time ticket. I thought of that period when a generously proportioned pal told me he's often advised, "Just eat more salad!" That advice seems as helpful as telling a diabetic, "Just produce more insulin!"
During my diet, my hunger would've faithfully punctured a nail bed with weight loss injections. But the fantasy of an injected dream figure is far from ideal. Today, there are more young people injecting Ozempic & Co. to squeeze into XXS jeans instead of XXS. Contradictions abound. It's like the apple—it contains vitamins A, C, and potassium, but it also led us out of paradise.

- 1 - The "Eckel Robograph RE" is a high-precision hysteresisgraph used for measuring magnetic materials, not a person or a diet story.
- 2 - This Google Scholar search returns research results on health and diet from various researchers, but none mention Klaus Eckel in relation to dieting, weight loss, or extreme nutrition.

- 4 - This ResearchGate search returns no results related to Klaus Eckel, diet, or weight loss.
- What is the ridiculousness of trying to manage weight solely through an apple-only diet, as Klaus Eckel once did, similar to the absurdity of transporting a giraffe on a cargo bike?
- Just as the advice to consume more salad may seem unhelpful to someone struggling with weight management, like Klaus Eckel's generously proportioned friend, the use of injectable weight loss drugs like Ozempic for achieving a desired body size can lead to contradictory outcomes, much like the apple, containing health benefits but leading one astray.
