Educator, aged 30, imprisoned and added to the sex offender registry after being captured secretly videotaping underneath females' skirts within the classroom.
A bloke named Lee Dixon, age 30, who wrongfully photographed young girls' underwear in his classroom, has been handed a 19-month sentence at a Scottish court.
This unsavory character, a maths teacher at a school in Cumbernauld, Scotland, was exposed when a fellow student found him hiding a mobile phone camera under his desk, as reported by the Daily Record.
The troubling events, which occurred in March 2023, began with Dixon recording a 12-year-old girl. Later, he targeted a 15-year-old student, surreptitiously photographing her underwear on two separate occasions.
The incident came to light when a classmate noticed the phone, prompting authorities to discover the incriminating images.
Addressing the offender, Sheriff Derek Livingston expressed his dismay stating, "The trauma those girls must have experienced when they discovered this is unthinkable."
Defense lawyer John Kilcoyne, representing the creep from Bellshill, Lanarkshire, stated Dixon was "disgusted" by his "despicable" actions. He further told the court that his client was aware he had breached trust and knew that his teaching career was over.
Dixon, who has recently obtained an HGV license, hopes to find work as a driver after this ordeal. While his wife has left him, his family remains supportive, attending the hearing to stand by him.
The lawyer emphasized his client's remorse, expressing that Dixon understood the impact of his behavior and that he had been deemed a low risk of reoffending by a social worker. However, Dixon expressed anxiety towards a prison sentence and sought an opportunity to "engage with social workers."
Sheriff Livingston, on the other hand, did not mince his words, stating, "Parents entrusted you to look after their children and educate them. Instead, you violated that trust and engaged in this voyeuristic behavior. I see no other alternative but a prison sentence."
Dixon is to be registered as a sex offender for a decade, and Scottish officials will be advised he is unfit to work with children or vulnerable groups.
In light of his involvement in a heinous crime, Lee Dixon, a former maths teacher, expressed his remorse and sought engagement with social workers after being sentenced to 19 months in prison for secretly photographing young girls' underwear. Despite his recent attempt to obtain an HGV license, his future employment opportunities may be limited due to his registration as a sex offender for ten years, disqualifying him from working with children or vulnerable groups. Consequently, news outlets might cover this story under categories such as crime-and-justice, general-news, and sexual-health, in addition to health-and-wellness, highlighting the importance of prioritizing children's safety and school security.
