Eight kids admitted to hospital following reported seizures during choir performance at a church

In an unexpected turn of events, eight children from the Chœur d'Enfants d'Île-de-France, a renowned youth choir, experienced seizure-like symptoms during a performance at St Paul Parish in Cambridge, Massachusetts on July 22. The incident, which occurred around 7:30 PM, left the community and authorities baffled, as no clear cause has been identified so far.

The Cambridge Fire Department responded promptly to the incident, with their hazmat team conducting a thorough survey of the church building. Using air sampling meters, they checked for any hazardous conditions but found none. As a precautionary measure, the buildings were ventilated, and no environmental toxins were detected.

The children, aged between 11 and 13, were treated at the scene by Cambridge firefighters and subsequently transported to hospitals for further evaluation. Remarkably, none of the children had reported feeling unwell prior to the performance, and approximately 70 other people in attendance at the concert were not affected.

Officials and the church have not released further details or explanations about the cause. No statements from hospitals or medical teams treating the children have been made public. The symptoms, described as seizure-like but not life-threatening, have left authorities puzzled.

Possible causes could range from medical conditions affecting the children, psychosomatic or stress-related reactions, or undetected environmental or toxicological factors. However, none have been confirmed by authorities as of now. The Cambridge Fire Department's Acting Fire Chief, Thomas Cahill, stated that the incident was "not common."

In response to speculation about a carbon monoxide leak, the Cambridge Fire Department's representatives have denied any such possibility. The investigation into the cause of the seizure-like symptoms continues, with the hope that more information will shed light on this unusual incident.
