JSC "DRSK" Primorye Electric Networks Conducts Successful Fire Evacuation Drill
In a bid to propel preparedness and practice emergency procedures, employees of JSC "DRSK" Primorye Electric Networks carried out a fire evacuation drill at their management apparatus last week. The drill's objective was to rehearse practical actions should an actual fire occur, as reported by DRSK's press service to IA PrimaMedia.
According to the simulated scenario, a blaze erupted in the basement of one of the office buildings, resulting in dense smoke permeating the main exit zone. To replicate real-life conditions, smoke was generated using a smoke machine.
Staff members were tasked with accurately assessing the situation, notifying their superiors and the dispatch service, ensuring fire safety in their offices, evacuating through alternative exits. Upon the activation of the fire alarm in all management apparatus buildings, staff swiftly vacated their workspaces and congregated at the designated secure meeting point.
During the drill, leaders and controllers evaluated and communicated both proper actions in case of a fire as well as criticism and shortcomings. Notably, this drill was observed to be more organized with fewer criticisms. The staff completed the evacuation within the expected time frame of 3.5 minutes, thus achieving the drill's objectives.
In the subsequent phase of the drill, labor safety service specialists underscored the steps to take during a fire, provided an instruction on fire safety measures, and demonstrated the use of primary fire extinguishing means.
In the practical portion of the drill, staff practiced examining fire extinguishers before deployment and extinguished a fire on a special platform utilizing four OP-5 powder fire extinguishers. Representatives from the branch's departments and services participated in the fire-extinguishing exercise.
While fire emergencies are unforeseen and cause distress, regular drills like these foster a culture of readiness and ensure that employees are well-equipped to respond appropriately should such an incident occur. JSC "DRSK" Primorye Electric Networks' consistent efforts in fire safety preparedness underscore the organization's commitment to the protection and well-being of their staff.
