Enhanced Health Services for Women Now Available at Lattimore's New Medical Facility
The Women's Health Center at Lattimore, a community-based setting, has been renovated to meet the outpatient ob/gyn needs of women. Located at 125 Lattimore Road, the center is part of Strong Memorial Hospital, the main teaching hospital of the University of Rochester Medical Center.
The Women's Health Center provides a comprehensive range of services for women, including general Ob/Gynecology care, family planning, urogynecology, chronic pelvic pain care, obstetrical care for high- and low-risk pregnancy, and outpatient procedures.
While specific details about the services offered at the Women's Health Center may not be found in search results, given the hospital's status as a teaching hospital and its ongoing expansion, it is likely that the center offers a variety of specialized services in women's health. These may include obstetrics and gynecology care, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility treatment, menopause and hormonal therapy, screening and preventive care, pelvic health physical therapy, and more.
The center has a capacity for 30,000 visits per year, an increase from the previous location's capacity of 23,000 patients annually. It is designed for timely patient flow, offers free parking, and is accessible by RTS bus service. The center also provides patients with transportation to and from the hospital if needed.
The Women's Health Center serves all women in need of outpatient general and special obstetric and gynecological care. It aims to enhance the ability to deliver care, improve health outcomes, and reduce disparities for those who find it challenging to attend appointments at the hospital.
The center offers ancillary services such as social work, nutrition, financial case management, and behavioral health. Genetic counseling is available for pre-pregnancy evaluation and for pregnancy-related ultrasound abnormalities or abnormal results from genetic assessment during pregnancy.
Ob/Gyn ultrasound imaging is available at the center for early pregnancy detection, fetal anatomy, fetal heart-rate monitoring, gynecology assessment, and post-menopausal bleeding evaluation. Other services include ultrasound, fetal monitoring, genetic counseling, laboratory testing, nutritional counseling, social work services, and financial assistance for health care services.
For information or appointments, please call (585) 275-2691. The center's relocation and expansion were primarily due to the need for more space to expand the program and provide timely services, including dedicated space for social work and nutritional support.
James R. Woods Jr., M.D., Henry A. Thiede Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the medical center, stated that the Women's Health Center at Lattimore is a beautiful new facility for women to receive their health care. Darlene Walker, R.N., M.S., nurse manager for the center, stated that the new center allows them to provide the greatly needed services they were previously unable to due to inadequate space.
The Women's Health Center at Lattimore, in addition to offering comprehensive Ob/Gyn care, family planning, and urogynecology services, may also provide specialized medical-conditions treatment such as gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology, menopause and hormonal therapy, and pelvic health physical therapy, given its status as a teaching hospital. The center's expansion and relocation aim to address health-and-wellness concerns, including women's health, by offering ancillary services like social work, nutrition, financial case management, behavioral health, and genetic counseling.
