EU Officials Unveil New Plan to Boost Internet Adoption Across Continents
On September 19th, 20XX, the Martinushaus in Aschaffenburg will host "Holding On to What Connects Us," an event aimed at sensitizing participants to the unique needs of people with dementia. This event is part of the Bavarian Dementia Week and is free to attend.
The day begins with admission at 2 PM, followed by the main event from 3 to 5 PM. The event is open to relatives, volunteers, and those affected, making it an inclusive opportunity for all.
The event will kick off with a welcome address by Mayor Jürgen Herzing. Iris Schubert from the Bavarian Office of Food, Agriculture and Forestry will then deliver a lecture on the importance of joy in eating and social participation for people with dementia.
The second part of the event is an interactive sensory course, designed to help participants understand changes in senses with age and learn to adapt meals and surroundings for people with dementia using various aids. Participants will receive valuable tips on how to interact empathetically with those affected.
Parallel to the event, the exhibition "Art Dementia Community" by lecturer Sarah Brendecke can be viewed in the foyer of the Martinushaus. This exhibition showcases works created by people with dementia as part of a project in Aschaffenburg in summer 2025. The exhibition runs from September 17th to October 16th.
The organizers of "Holding On to What Connects Us" include local health and social care institutions collaborating with the Bavarian government’s dementia initiative, such as the Nursing Support Points of the Landkreis and City of Aschaffenburg, the Senior Advisory Services of the Landkreis and City of Aschaffenburg, the Health Region Plus, the Alzheimer Society of Aschaffenburg, the Demenz Untermain Advisory Service, the Franz-Goehler Foundation Hoehbach, and the Martinusforum.
