FEMSA & Medtech Association Tighten Ethics Rules for Health Professionals
Fomento Económico Mexicano B de C (FEMSA) has revised its Code of Ethics regarding interactions with health professionals. The update, approved on October 6, 2025, will come into effect on November 1, 2025. This revision aligns with the Medtech Association's recent unanimous approval of similar changes to its own Code of Ethics.
The Medtech Association, under the leadership of Scott Whitaker, president and CEO, and Peter J. Arduini, president and CEO of GE HealthCare and board chairman, has shown commitment to ethical practices. Arduini stressed the importance of integrity in business to maintain patient trust and drive innovation. Whitaker reassured the public of the association's dedication to protecting patient data in digital health technologies.
The revised Code of Ethics, set to take effect on November 1, 2025, provides guidance on ethical interactions and relationships with healthcare professionals. It is based on values such as innovation, education, integrity, respect, responsibility, and transparency. The updated Code expands on guidance for handling data responsibly, ethically, and transparently. This ensures trustworthy technologies are delivered to patients.
Both FEMSA and the Medtech Association have demonstrated a commitment to ethical practices in the health sector. The revised Codes of Ethics, coming into effect on November 1, 2025, aim to enhance integrity, transparency, and patient data protection in interactions with healthcare professionals.
