Chinese Fitness Influencer Liu Weiqiang Breaks One-Finger Deadlift World Record

Chinese fitness influencer Liu Weiqiang has made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the heaviest deadlift performed with one finger. The record-breaking lift took place on February 2, 2025, and Weiqiang lifted a weight of 144.72 kilograms (319.05 pounds) using just his middle finger of his left hand.

Weiqiang, who initially did not set out to break world records, found his inspiration after believing his training performances were near record levels. He built a custom weighted device consisting of four 25-kilogram plates and two 20-kilogram plates to perform the one-finger deadlift.

For the lift, Weiqiang looped his right middle finger around a carabiner attached to a sturdy fitness pole. He placed the weighted device on the pole and gripped it with one finger. With a powerful thrust, he lifted the weight off the ground and maintained control of the locked-out position for about 10 seconds, showcasing his exceptional finger strength and control.

The previous record for a one-finger deadlift was held by Egmond Molina, who lifted 138.5 kilograms in March 2024. Weiqiang surpassed this record by approximately 6 kilograms (13.2 pounds).

Guinness World Records officially recognized Weiqiang's record-breaking lift in July 2025. The lift took almost an entire 10 seconds to complete, impressing both spectators and fitness enthusiasts alike.

Meanwhile, in a separate event, Brisbane accountant Lucas Helmke broke the world record for the most push-ups in one hour with 3,206 push-ups. Helmke attempted the record to provide inspiration for his one-year-old son. He averaged 53 push-ups per minute during his record-breaking attempt, setting a new standard in endurance and strength.

These two record-breaking feats showcase the extraordinary strength and determination of individuals who push themselves to their limits and beyond. Weiqiang's one-finger deadlift record is a testament to his exceptional finger strength and control, while Helmke's push-up record showcases his endurance and willpower. Both individuals serve as an inspiration to others to challenge themselves and strive for greatness.
