Gathering of 1,700 Evangelical Women Held in Spain (paraphrase)
In the heart of Spain, the global organisation Aglow, with a mission to present Biblical principles as solutions to the challenges faced by individuals and communities, recently held conferences in Albacete and Oviedo.
The Albacete conference, held from 31st January to 2nd February, attracted around 1,000 participants. The plenary sessions were led by pastors Kelly and André Spyker from the Más Vida church in Mexico, along with Pastor Danilo Montero from the US and his wife Gloriana Díaz. Ana Giménez, the president of Aglow Spain, warmly welcomed the participants.
A tribute was paid to Nieves Serrano, a beloved figure who passed away in October 2024 and left a legacy of joy and faith in thousands of women. The conference also included six workshops on topics such as Only Fans, selling the soul; Coping with motherhood when children are not believers; Women pastors and leaders; Healthy relationships; Anxiety and depression; and Art, evangelism, and the Holy Spirit.
The programme in Albacete was enriched with artistic performances, including contemporary dance and music by the Castilla La Mancha Gospel Choir. Local authorities such as Rosa María González de la Aleja Sirvent and Jorge Fernández attended the conference, demonstrating the wide-ranging support for Aglow's mission.
The second conference took place in Oviedo from 7th to 9th February, with around 750 participants. Pablo Losa, the president of the Evangelical Council of Asturias, and Monchu Suárez, a pastor and councillor of Aglow Spain, were present.
Aglow's key focuses include empowerment through biblical teaching, outreach to diverse groups, prison ministry and social engagement, and partnership and networking. These emphases were evident in the conferences, as women gathered to grow spiritually, encourage one another, and join in the worldwide mission of sharing Christ's love and truth through practical biblical application.
As Aglow Spain looks towards the future, they expressed hope for more women to join their faith journey. The team is seeking support for their #OneMoreYearEF campaign, a sustainability challenge aimed at continuing their vital work. More information about this campaign can be found on their website.
The next meeting of Aglow Spain will be from 30th January to 1st February 2026. Aglow, started in 1967, has grown to 4,000 groups in 172 nations, and its mission in Spain is to be a beacon of light and hope, fostering unity among churches.
