Hospital in Borgosesia's Future Outlook
In a bid to address persistent rumours and growing concerns, a meeting was organized for today (Monday, 28th) at 9 pm at the town hall. The gathering was called by Mayor Fabrizio Bonaccio and President of the Union of Valsesia Municipalities, Fabrizio Pietrasanta, with Regional Assessor Federico Riboldi and Director General of Vercelli ASL, Marco Ricci, in attendance.
The central issues under discussion revolve around the potential closure of the birth center at Borgosesia Hospital and the need for improved healthcare services in the region. Fratelli d'Italia, a political party involved in the discussions, aims to eliminate the phenomenon of "boarding" in the Emergency Room, where patients have prolonged stays in the corridors.
To address this, Fratelli d'Italia proposes extending the hours of all outpatient clinics at Borgosesia Hospital until 5 pm and creating a healthcare assistance center within the hospital for patients no longer needing intensive care. Furthermore, they also advocate for increasing the number of surgical interventions at the hospital.
In addition, Fratelli d'Italia and the PD have both called for the strengthening of the Valsesia facility, with a particular focus on the departments of Cardiology, which is currently short of staff and investment, and Orthopedics, which could potentially become the reference point for prosthetic interventions in the area. Traumatology, given the mountainous tourist vocation, could also become a center of excellence.
The PD expects Regional Assessor Federico Riboldi to give answers to the territory regarding the Valsesia facility, while Vercelli's Lega, through provincial secretary Daniele Baglione, will ask for Borgosesia's integration with other hospitals in the area, including Borgomanero, to keep the birth center active.
Both parties emphasize the rhetoric "no closures," believing that territories need services to be attractive and closures are not the right way. They advocate for continuous funding and adequate staffing for Emergency and Cardiology departments to handle increased patient loads after the potential closure of the birth center. Investment in infrastructure and equipment for critical care units to prevent overload is also a key demand.
However, without direct local sources, statements from hospital management, health authorities, or community groups regarding Borgosesia Hospital, these points remain generalized and speculative. If more specific and up-to-date information is required, consulting local news reports, official health department communications, or hospital press releases would be necessary.
In the meantime, the community awaits the outcomes of the meeting, hoping for improvements in healthcare services and the prevention of patient boarding at Borgosesia Hospital.
