Dave Edmunds Critically Ill After Major Cardiac Arrest

In a shocking turn of events, legendary Welsh musician Dave Edmunds is critically ill in hospital following a major cardiac arrest at his home in Wales on July 29, 2025. His wife, Cici, revealed the news on Facebook, stating that the journey ahead will be long and difficult.

Edmunds, born in Cardiff in 1944, began his career as a member of the late 60s group Love Sculpture, scoring a UK Top 5 hit in 1968 with Sabre Dance. He later formed Rockpile with former Brinsley Schwarz bassist and vocalist Nick Lowe, releasing the album Seconds Of Pleasure in 1980.

Throughout his illustrious career, Edmunds collaborated with various artists including Paul McCartney, Status Quo, ELO's Jeff Lynne, and rock'n'roll pioneer Carl Perkins. He also had further hits as a solo artist in the 1970s with songs such as I Can Hear You Knocking, I Knew The Bride, and Girl Talk. His last album, On Guitar...Rags & Classics, was released in 2015.

On the fateful day of July 29, Edmunds suffered a cardiac arrest at home, dying in his wife's arms before being miraculously revived by CPR performed by her and a nurse. Following the incident, he was intubated and hospitalized in intensive care. Cici reported that he has brain damage and severe memory loss, with a high risk of another cardiac arrest. If another major cardiac arrest were to occur, there is no chance for his survival.

As of early August 2025, there are no further public updates on his health status or recovery beyond these initial reports. The music community and fans worldwide are sending their well-wishes and prayers to the 81-year-old musician. Cici expressed her gratitude for the kind-hearted people, stating that it makes the difficult journey a little easier.

The music industry will be eagerly awaiting news of Edmunds' recovery and hoping for his return to the stage. His unique sound and collaborations have left an indelible mark on the world of rock and roll, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
