"While I was finishing up my high school diploma, I realized competitive dancing, my then-sport, was no longer an option," she explains. In search of a more adaptable hobby, Zienert became a regular at the gym. It was there that she met new pals, including one who competed in the Bavarian Championship in 2013. "We were there to cheer him on, but then I saw the women on stage and thought: I’d like to do that too." And so, she did.

From Bodybuilding Newbie to Elite Athlete

Zienert's first competition as a junior transpired in 2015, followed by German junior championship wins in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, she secured the overall German championship title. International acclaim came her way, such as first place at the impressive fitness festival EVLS in Prague and a bronze medal at the junior world championships in Romania.

Despite her athletic accomplishments, Zienert clung to her profession as an operating room nurse in Augsburg for some time. The COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed a change: "I was working at the Josefinum, clocking three 24-hour shifts per week – it was exhausting," she reminisces. Her spouse, Daniel Zienert, an athlete himself, proposed a solution: moving towards self-employment. They launched their dietary supplement business in Augsburg in 2020, and the online shop has since thrived in conjunction with their passion for fitness.

Zienert usually trains under the Midas touch of Antonio Murania, the owner of the well-known Eddis Fitness studio in Augsburg – himself a multiple German and European bodybuilding champion. Coaching isn't a bedtime story – it's business

Despite her countless stage appearances, Zienert views bodybuilding as a team sport. "Behind every competitor stands a whole crew – trainers, psychologists, physiotherapists – often overlooked when you only watch the competitions," she stresses. Coaching is also important to her. "I only mentor those I know I can help. Some folks simply want a friend or a counselor – that ain’t me."

Zienert delivers more than muscle-bound knowledge: she brings an emotional tale. During her younger years, she wrestled with her dietary habits, faced bullying, and crafted a distorted self-image early on. "At thirteen, I tried everything to fit in and be well-liked, which led me to shed a whopping 25 kilos in just three months. I was always the last pick for sports teams in school.” But today, she's found peace within herself: "I’ve spent half my life battling those internal demons, and now I feel comfortable in my own skin."

Augsburg suits Zienert, where she dwells with her husband in Lechhausen. Leaving Schweinfurt didn't prove troublesome. "It's beautiful here – whether it's the old town or the city forest, I feel right at home." Her goals? "I envisioned being up there at the Olympia when I was 18. I've proven it time and again now, and I ain't done yet."
