Mobile Oncology Teams Enhance Cancer Diagnosis in Yakutia
In an effort to improve early detection and treatment of cancer, mobile oncology teams have been traveling across the Republic of Yakutia since the beginning of the year. Funded by the national projects "Healthcare" and "Active Longevity," these teams have been working tirelessly to diagnose malignant tumors at their earliest stages.
The mobile team comprises specialists including an oncogynecologist, an oncologist, a mammologist, an endoscopist, and an ultrasound doctor. They have visited various districts, including Middle Kolyma, Tompon, Nyurba, Vilyui, Anabar, and Mirny, examining 1,387 local residents as of the current report.
Seven new cancer cases were diagnosed among the examined residents, all at an early stage. This early detection is crucial, as President Vladimir Putin has emphasized, as it is seen as critical to preserving and prolonging life quality in the context of cancer. Early diagnosis and timely treatment are key to defeating many types of cancer.
So far, 83 residents have been referred to Yakutsk for further testing. Plans for the rest of the year include trips to settlements in six additional districts: Namsky, Aldansky, Lensky, Olekminsky, Churapchinsky, and Ust-Maysky.
The focus on early diagnosis is not just within the current federal project but also for the future. The national projects "Healthcare" and "Active Longevity" have been funding the work on early diagnosis of malignant tumors since 2019. Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized the importance of improving the effectiveness of diagnostics for malignant tumors.
The aim of the ongoing work is to improve the effectiveness of diagnostics for malignant tumors. The mobile team also consults with colleagues from central district hospitals during their trips to ensure the best possible care for the residents of Yakutia.
