National Association of Boards of Pharmacy Appoints Hannaford's Regional Manager as Its New President
Hannaford's Regional Pharmacy Manager Elected as First-ever President of NABP
Brad Hamilton, a seasoned pharmacist with over 20 years of experience at Hannaford Supermarkets, has made history as the first-ever representative from Maine to become President of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
Hamilton, currently the Regional Pharmacy Operations Manager at Hannaford, was elected at the NABP's annual meeting in May. Wendy Boynton, Director of Pharmacy Operations at Hannaford, expressed pride in Hamilton's achievement and reiterated Hannaford's unwavering commitment to public health.
Based in Scarborough, Maine, Hannaford Supermarkets employs nearly 30,000 associates and operates almost 190 stores, most with full-service pharmacies, in Maine, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Ahold Delhaize USA, Hannaford's parent company, is No. 11 on The PG 100, Progressive Grocer's 2025 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America.
Hamilton's role at the NABP will involve overseeing the organisation's work in supporting and advocating for its member boards of pharmacy nationwide to protect public health. Prior to this, Hamilton has been a member of the Maine Board of Pharmacy for over a decade, including terms as both president and VP.
In his role on the NABP Executive Committee, Hamilton worked with various task forces to advance pharmacy technician education and practices, expand international membership, and shape regulatory policy grounded in standards of care.
Hamilton's achievements extend beyond his work at Hannaford and the NABP. In 2021, he received the Excellence in Pharmacy Award from the University of New England School of Pharmacy. He was also the first Mainer in more than a century to be elected to the NABP Executive Committee. Hamilton received Hannaford's Retail Operations Honorary Backpack Award in 2014 and was recognised as Store Manager of the Year by Hannaford Supermarkets.
Other notable partnerships in the pharmacy and healthcare sector include Meijer's collaboration with health platform Homeward to expand accessibility to care and medication for rural and senior residents, and Marc's partnership with NationsBenefits on Flex card and BAS tech integration to help expand OTC, grocery, and pharmacy access in Ohio.
Hamilton's election as the first-ever representative from Maine to become President of the NABP is a testament to his dedication and respect for the vital role local pharmacists play in helping to ensure communities are healthy and thriving.
