Nizhny Novgorod, Russia: New Cardiology Outpatient Center Opens as Part of "Health Quarter" Project

On May 30, a specialized cardiology clinic named after academician B.A. Korolev in Nizhny Novgorod unveiled its new Center for Outpatient Care. The clinic, accommodating 200 visits per shift, is housed in a renovated three-story building, previously utilized by hospital technical services.

This development is one of the stages of the "Health Quarter" project, an initiative aimed at the comprehensive enhancement of hospital territories. In addition to the Nizhny Novgorod Cardio Center, the project encompasses the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital. The project involves major repairs, construction, repurposing, street landscaping, and road infrastructure development, as well as centralizing most services of the two hospitals, such as laboratories, dining facilities, transportation, and building maintenance.

Anton Maximov, the clinic's main doctor, discussed the new center. "With over 600,000 residents in Nizhny Novgorod requiring care due to cardiovascular diseases, we've long aspired for our own clinic, but the resources were insufficient. Thankfully, we received nearly 83 million rubles for the building reconstruction and 85 million for furniture, equipment, and medical devices from Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin," he stated. The construction and installation work have been completed, and the clinic is now in the process of adjusting engineering systems, setting up internet communications, arranging equipment, and landscaping the adjacent territory.

Occupying approximately 800 square meters, the new polyclinic has facilities dedicated to various diagnostic procedures. The basement floor houses a computer tomography machine, technical rooms, staff changing rooms, and additional spaces for future expansion. The first floor includes a reception area, visitor changing room, doctor's offices, and diagnostic rooms for procedures such as stress testing and ultrasound examinations.

The second floor boasts five doctor's offices, a room for telemedicine consultations, and staff rest areas. The third floor contains day hospital rooms, procedure rooms, more doctor's offices, and staff offices. The 30 medical professionals, including 20 doctors and 10 nurses, will begin attending to patients in August-September of this year.

Anton Maximov emphasized, "With the center's telemedicine capabilities, highly qualified specialists at the Nizhny Novgorod Cardio Center can accurately assess the health of patients from remote medical facilities and provide treatment recommendations. This will significantly increase the volume of diagnostic studies, enabling earlier and more frequent detection of cardiovascular conditions."

The "Health Quarter" project is part of a broader initiative to modernize clinics, hospitals, and healthcare facilities across Russia. Nizhny Novgorod's "Health Quarter" is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2025, subject to an investment of 12.3 billion rubles. However, further details about the exact medical facilities involved in the project are not provided in current sources.

In light of the new Center for Outpatient Care at the B.A. Korolev Cardiology Clinic in Nizhny Novgorod, a hub for diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular diseases has been established. This development, part of the "Health Quarter" project, aims to elevate the medical-conditions sector, focusing on health-and-wellness and cardiovascular-health in particular, through comprehensive upgrades to hospital territories.
