No vaccine guarantees absolute immunity
In the latest update from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the 7-day incidence rate for Rhein-Kreis Neuss has increased slightly, standing at 226.1 (from 219.7). This rise in infection numbers is not unexpected, as the district has seen an increase in confirmed cases to 2,872 (from 2,769).
Of these new cases, the Delta variant has been detected in 902 instances (up from 831), while the Omicron variant has been confirmed in 5 cases (previously 4). However, it's worth noting that the number of fully vaccinated individuals who have had a coronavirus infection remains stable at 1,144.
Regarding recoveries, the good news is that the total number of people who have recovered from the infection across the district has increased to 25,977 (from 25,883). Unfortunately, the number of deaths from coronavirus complications remains unchanged at 397.
Currently, 19 individuals are in a hospital due to their coronavirus infection (previously 20), with 6 of them being fully vaccinated.
The distribution of coronavirus infections across the district's cities and municipalities remains as follows: Neuss (1,196), Dormagen (435), Grevenbroich (248), Meerbusch (371), Kaarst (223), Korschenbroich (183), Jüchen (148), and Rommerskirchen (68).
