NRW State Parliament Hears 'Protecting Emergency Personnel' Amidst Ratingen Incident
A hearing on 'Protecting emergency personnel' took place in the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament, coincidentally occurring during a rescue operation in Ratingen where several emergency service personnel were injured, some critically. The protection of these workers is gaining significance due to escalating hazards caused by individuals.
The incident in Ratingen has underscored the urgency for better personal protection of emergency service personnel. Dr. Jan Heinisch, chairman of the Association of Fire Brigades in NRW, expressed solidarity with the injured, hoping for a speedy recovery.
Earlier, a significant step was taken at the 'Runde Tisch Gemeinsam gegen Gewalt und Diskriminierung von Beschäftigten im Gesundheitswesen' (Round Table 'Together Against Violence and Discrimination of Healthcare Employees'). Here, representatives from various associations, professional societies, and healthcare institutions, along with the Ministry for Labour, Health and Social Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia (MAGS NRW) and the Hospital Society NRW, agreed on measures to safeguard emergency forces against attacks.
The Association of Fire Brigades in NRW e.V. has called for collective efforts to counter attacks on emergency personnel, following the recent incident in Ratingen. The state parliament's hearing and the Round Table's agreement indicate a concerted push for improved personal protection of these vital workers.
