Oakley's fresh Meta Vanguard AI spectacles debut featuring built-in Strava connectivity right out of the box
Oakley's Meta Vanguard Performance AI Glasses Integrated with Strava
Oakley, the renowned sports eyewear manufacturer, has partnered with Strava and Meta to launch the Meta Vanguard Performance AI glasses. These innovative glasses, designed for runners and cyclists, are set to revolutionise the way athletes capture and share their workout experiences.
The Meta Vanguard glasses come equipped with an ultra-wide 12MP camera, capable of recording up to 3K video. For those seeking cinematic workout footage, the glasses offer stabilisation modes like Slow Motion and Hyperlapse.
One of the standout features of these glasses is their integration with Strava. Athletes can overlay performance metrics from Strava onto videos and photos captured with the Vanguard glasses. This includes real-time stats like pace and heart rate.
The collaboration also introduces AI-driven auto-capture, which records highlight clips when milestones, such as smashing a climb or clocking a new sprint Personal Best (PB), are achieved.
In addition, the Vanguard glasses feature a five-mic array and open-ear speakers for clear commands, even in windy conditions. They also boast a rugged, sweat-ready design with interchangeable nose pads for a secure fit at speed.
The glasses are IP67-rated, making them resistant to rain, dust, and sweat. They also feature PRIZM lenses for clarity.
To use this feature, athletes need to connect Strava in the Meta AI mobile app. Pre-orders for the Oakley Meta Vanguard AI glasses are open now via Oakley's official website, with shipping set to begin on October 21, 2025.
Strava, with its 150-million-strong community, is a key part of the Vanguard integration. This collaboration aims to make athlete storytelling more immersive.
The founder and CEO of Oakley, the manufacturer of the Meta Vanguard Performance AI glasses, is James "Jim" Jannard. He founded Oakley in 1975.
Strava can be signed up for free, making it accessible for athletes of all levels. The prices for the glasses start at £499/ $499 (~AU$751.17).
This isn't the first time Strava has announced an integration with a tech giant. Previously, they redesigned the Apple Watch app for Strava. With the Meta Vanguard Performance AI glasses, they continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in sports technology.
