A video clip, reportedly filmed outside a mosque in the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh on April 2, 2022, has sparked concern and calls for action. The video shows a Hindu priest, identified as the local mahant of a small town called Khairabad, making threatening comments towards Muslim women.

The video clip, which was shared on social media, including Twitter, was tweeted by Mohammed Zubair on April 7, 2022. In the video, the priest allegedly threatens to murder him and claims that an amount of 28 lakh has been accumulated for this. He also allegedly threatens to kidnap Muslim women and publicly rape them if any Muslim bugs a girl in the area.

The priest's comments are accompanied by shouts of "Jai Shri Ram" from the crowd. A police officer is seen in the background of the video, and another video circulating on social media shows four police officers in the building, three of them in the same car as the priest.

Mohammed Zubair, founder of the fact-check website AltNews, shared the video, stating it was filmed on April 2, but no action had been taken by the police even after five days. Since then, several Twitter users have asked for action against the spiritual leader. Some users have flagged the statements in the video to the UN human rights body and the National Commission for Women.

The Uttar Pradesh police have acknowledged receiving the video clip and are investigating the matter. The actions taken will be based on facts gathered during the investigation. However, as of late August 2025, there is no publicly available detailed or recent information specifically about the Sitapur hate speech incident involving the Hindu priest or about official investigation progress and actions taken against the accused in Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh.

It appears that either the investigation details or enforcement actions against the priest in Sitapur have not been widely reported or updated in major media or official channels. For precise and current enforcement status, checking with local police or district administration Sitapur or official Uttar Pradesh government releases would be necessary.

A senior policeman is exploring the incident in question, and it remains to be seen what further actions will be taken. The users are seeking rigorous intervention in the matter, hoping for a swift and just resolution.
