Get ready, Biella ASL! On Tuesday, we welcome Dr. Valentina Fornero, the new rheumatologist at our facility, who'll be working at the hospital's Rheumatology Clinic. This ambulatory service was put on hold last year due to complications in finding a suitable replacement for Dr. Longato. With Dr. Fornero's arrival, we're set to resume operations, offering the identical monthly availability as before.
Born in Turin but originally hailing from the Canavese region, Dr. Fornero earned her M.D. from the "La Sapienza" University of Rome, then specialized in Rheumatology at the University of Cagliari in early 2025. Her exceptional training encompassed experiences in both hospital and outpatient settings, as well as distinguished national and international programs.
In her university years, Dr. Fornero honed her expertise at the Rheumatology department of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Caen in Normandy. Later, she deepened her study of rheumatological ultrasound, bioptic, and infiltrative techniques at the University Department of Rheumatology of Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon.
"Equipped with these wide-ranging experiences," the Health Agency explained, "Dr. Fornero offers a comprehensive and tailored clinical-therapeutic approach that caters to the unique needs of each rheumatic patient." She has further refined her skills in musculoskeletal ultrasound through advanced courses organized by the European League Against Rheumatism and the Italian Society of Ultrasonology in Medicine and Biology in Bologna.
Known for her collaboration with various regional and non-regional structures, Dr. Fornero is dedicated and empathetic towards her patients, centering her practice on listening and fostering a personalized approach. Amongst the ailments she primarily treats are:
- Osteomuscular pathologies, such as rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, gout and microcrystalline arthropathies, osteoporosis, myopathies, chronic pain and fibromyalgia, connective tissue pathologies,
- Rheumatological musculoskeletal and glandular ultrasound,
- Infiltrative therapies.
