Lünen, Germany, is offering a free women's self-defense course in 2025, in collaboration with the Criminal Prevention/Victim Protection department of the Dortmund Police Presidency. The course, open to all women aged 18 and above who reside in Lünen, will take place over ten two-hour sessions, beginning on 22 September 2025.

The sessions will take place on Mondays from 6 to 8 pm at two locations: Bürgerzentrum Gahmen (Kuemperheide 2) and the gymnasium of the Heinrich-Bußmann-Schule (access via Süggelstraße). Interested participants can register via email at frauenbuero@ourwebsite or by phone at 02306 104-1350. Registration will close on 15 September 2025.

Officers from the Criminal Commissioner's Office will inform participants about police work and when to seek help. The instructors will provide information on perpetrator behavior, crime scenes, victim-perpetrator relationships, self-defense aids, and the right to self-defense. Role-playing and video analysis will reinforce the topics mentioned above.

Participants will learn simple self-defense techniques, confident body language, voice projection, and setting boundaries. The sessions build upon each other, and regular attendance is recommended. Further information can be obtained from the Equal Opportunities Officer, Heike Tatsch, at the same phone number or via email at heike.tatsch.04@ourwebsite.

The course is in its entirety a collaborative effort between the City of Lünen, represented by the Equal Treatment Officer, and the Crime Prevention/Victim Protection Department of the Dortmund Police Headquarters. The aim is to empower women in Lünen with the knowledge and skills necessary for personal safety and self-defense.
