St. Josef Hospital Launches New Self-Help Group for Obesity Patients

St. Josef Hospital in Bad Driburg is initiating a new self-help group for obesity patients starting on October 8, 2023. The group will convene monthly, led by Christin Nissen, a specialist coordinator, and Janina Piwon, an operated patient. The hospital, a certified center of competence since 2018, assists over 500 patients annually.

The self-help group aims to provide a safe space for members to exchange experiences, gain motivation, and offer mutual support. No registration is required to attend the meetings, held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 pm in Conference Room U38.

The inaugural lecture will be given by Dr. Florian Dietl, chief physician of the Clinic for General and Visceral Surgery. He will discuss the possibilities, risks, and chances of severe obesity. The hospital began comprehensive obesity treatment 15 years ago and has since become a reference center, recertified in 2025.

The new self-help group at St. Josef Hospital in Bad Driburg offers a supportive community for obesity patients. With expert guidance and a welcoming environment, it aims to empower members in their journey towards better health.
