Bottrop's 33rd Summer Leisure Time for People with Disabilities: A Celebration of Inclusion and Community

Bottrop, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, is set to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of its summer leisure time program for people with disabilities. Despite limited online search results, this annual event has been a staple in the city, offering a range of recreational, cultural, and social activities for participants.

The summer leisure time, organised by the Social Services of the city of Bottrop, takes place in the rooms of the Open Children and Youth Facility Spielraum this year. Stefan Bartizal, a freelancer at the Spielraum, is the organiser for this year's event.

The program is individually tailored to the needs of the participants, including severely disabled children and young people. A varied schedule includes outings to the swimming pool, the leisure park Schloss Beck, and the Rotthoffshof in Kirchhellen.

This year, 53 children, young people, and young adults aged six to 21 are participating in the summer leisure time. The event provides a valuable alternative to school offers during the summer holidays and offers a break from everyday life for parents or guardians.

The demand for the summer leisure time has grown over the years, reflecting its importance in the community. The city's commitment to inclusion is evident in the leisure time at the Rotthoffshof, which promotes inclusion every day.

For those interested in registering for the summer leisure time, contact Stefan Bartizal at [email protected] or 02041 / 70-3568. Detailed information including schedules, activities, eligibility, and registration deadlines are typically published by the City of Bottrop or local disability support associations on their official websites or via local announcements.

Bottrop's summer leisure time is more than just a recreational event; it's a celebration of community, inclusion, and the spirit of togetherness. As Social Director Karen Alexius-Eifert proudly notes, it's a testament to Bottrop's commitment to supporting its most vulnerable residents.

Science plays a crucial role in making the summer leisure time a success, as organizers incorporate health-and-wellness practices into the activities to ensure the participants' well-being. For instance, the outings to the swimming pool and the leisure park Schloss Beck offer opportunities for regular physical exercise, while the Rotthoffshof in Kirchhellen provides an environment that promotes mental health and social interaction.
