Elisabeth Hospital in Eutin Expands to Meet Growing Demand for Geriatric Care

The Elisabeth Hospital in Eutin, a significant healthcare provider in the region since 1932, is set to undergo a significant expansion. The project, which began in 2018, has been a significant focus for the organisation in recent years.

Initially an outpatient clinic of the "Grey Sisters," the hospital now offers comprehensive healthcare services to over 3,000 patients each year. The expansion, initially planned for two floors, has grown to include an additional two floors due to increasing demand for geriatric care in the region.

The new building, scheduled for completion, will feature 62 comfortable single rooms and 18 double rooms, most with a balcony. The hospital will have 22 beds in palliative medicine and 132 beds in geriatrics, making it one of the largest facilities in Germany for these specialties.

The ceremonial opening of the expanded Elisabeth Hospital in Eutin marks one of the greatest milestones in the hospital's long history. The state and municipalities have contributed around 27 million euros towards the investment in the new building, bringing the total investment to approximately 32 million euros.

The new building boasts therapy rooms, bright, modern staff rooms and offices for employees, reflecting the hospital's commitment to quality-oriented employment. A small ecumenical service was held for the consecration of the new building, which was blessed as a place of love for one's neighbor.

Dirk Beutin, CEO of the Elisabeth Hospital, emphasized the importance of the new building and expansion project. He highlighted that the successful expansion has allowed the hospital to increase its staff from 160 to 280 employees, underscoring the hospital's quality-oriented approach. The consecration service underscores the hospital's commitment to compassionate care.

The expansion project of the Elisabeth Hospital in Eutin is a testament to the hospital's continued dedication to providing high-quality healthcare services to the community. The hospital remains a modern, quality-oriented employer in the region, ensuring that the people of Eutin continue to receive the best possible care.

The Elisabeth Hospital, with its history rooted in health-and-wellness, aims to enhance its science-driven approach by developing specialized care for the aging population. As part of the expansion, the hospital will dedicate a significant portion of the facility to geriatric care, making it a hub for this area of medicine in the region.
