Trump diagnosed with venous issue following observation of leg swelling
President Donald Trump, who recently turned 79, was evaluated by Dr. Leavitt, the White House physician, and was declared to be in excellent health. The assessment came following the diagnosis of the President with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition where veins in the legs struggle to allow blood to flow back up to the heart.
The diagnosis was made after Trump noticed mild swelling in his lower legs. However, Dr. Leavitt did not specify if the President is still experiencing this mild swelling. It is important to note that the hand bruising on President Trump is not a symptom of his CVI, nor is it related to deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease, as no evidence of these conditions was found in his tests.
The hand bruising, according to Dr. Leavitt, is consistent with irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin. The President's current treatment and management of his CVI will not be affected by the hand bruising. Dr. Leavitt also did not mention any new health concerns or issues regarding Trump's diagnosis of CVI, nor did he discuss any changes in the President's medications, including the use of aspirin.
For individuals over 70 with CVI, common treatments aim to alleviate symptoms and prevent complications. These include wearing compression stockings, elevating the legs, engaging in regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, making lifestyle adjustments, and, in advanced cases, using medications or medical procedures. Compression stockings, in particular, are the primary treatment, helping push blood upward toward the heart, reducing swelling and discomfort.
Despite the diagnosis and the hand bruising, Dr. Leavitt reaffirmed President Trump's good health. The President's CVI, like many conditions, requires long-term adherence to treatment, especially with compression stockings, to effectively manage symptoms.

- While the discussion about President Trump's health often includes politics and general news, his diagnosis of CVI does not seem to have any immediate implications for his handling of government affairs or his medications, such as aspirin.
