Trump Unveils Pfizer Drug Discounts for Medicaid via TrumpRx
President Donald Trump has revealed that Pfizer will offer prescription drugs at discounted prices through Medicaid. The Trump administration is set to launch a 'TrumpRx' website, aiming to enhance healthcare access for low-income Americans by early 2026.
The TrumpRx website, once available, will facilitate direct-to-consumer sales of prescription medications at the lowest available prices. This initiative is a result of the administration's 'most favored nation' pricing effort, which pressured Pfizer to agree to these discounted rates. Pfizer has committed to not charging the U.S. more than other countries for any drug through Medicare, Medicaid, or cash payments.
Pfizer, with nine manufacturing plants spread across 11 U.S. states, has also pledged a $70 billion investment to boost U.S. manufacturing over the next three years. The pharmaceutical industry group, PhRMA, has announced a similar direct-to-consumer sales website, scheduled to launch in January 2026.
While there is no specific date or time available for the TrumpRx website's launch, the White House hopes to make it accessible in early 2026. This initiative, along with Pfizer's manufacturing commitment, is expected to improve healthcare affordability and accessibility for Americans.
