TU Brunswick Opens New Parent-Child Office for Flexible Work-Life Balance
The Technical University of Brunswick (TU Brunswick) has opened a new parent-child newsroom in the PVZ building, room 422, as part of its commitment to flexible working forms and family-friendliness in research and teaching. This initiative was spearheaded by Professor Iordania Constantinou from the Institute of Microsystems Technology and aims to support parents working at the university.
The parent-child newsroom, launched in August 2023, is equipped with various amenities to cater to both parents and children. It features a desk and couch for parents to work comfortably, along with a children's kitchen, play mat, toys, drawing materials, building blocks, puzzles, a Tripp Trapp chair, a foldable bed, and a play sofa for the little ones. The newsroom can be booked via the Outlook calendar.
This new facility is part of the TU Brunswick's response to evolving work dynamics, including the rise of office 365 and hybrid event formats. Similar parent-child rooms are available at the main campus and Faculty 6, with some institutes also offering such spaces. Professor Constantinou is credited as the initiator of this particular newsroom in the PVZ.
