Unsuavory Artwork Causes Controversy at Reutlinger Clinics - "May Elicit Unwanted Reactions"
=================================================================================
The art exhibition planned at the Academy of District Clinics in Pfullingen, Germany, has been cancelled due to controversial content. The exhibition, set up by Michael Broszius and Carlo Weiß, was scheduled to start on 17 August at Kunst im Werk II in Dusslingen, following its initial cancellation.
The controversy surrounding the exhibition arose from a video installation by Broszius, which depicted nudity and explicit sexual content. The installation sparked public outcry and debate over its appropriateness within a medical institution, given that patients and families frequent the space.
The cancellation was prompted by the presence of two "stylized" penises in Broszius' artwork, one of which depicted a male genitalia while urinating. Other controversial pieces included motifs with ambiguous word plays, such as "Lust auf oral?" (Culinary or sexual practice?), "Lick me!", and a drawing of a man's step with his hand in his jeans.
Michael Brozsius, the artist, is from Reutlingen and owns an advertising agency. He describes his art as "versatile, individual, experimental, provocative, playful". Broszius views the cancellation as an unintentional PR stunt, stating that they probably wouldn't have received such publicity and attention otherwise.
The pictures for the exhibition were already hung when it was cancelled. Broszius and Weiß had to pack up again after the cancellation, and the costs incurred due to the cancellation are unlikely to be reimbursed.
The clinic management argued for youth protection, stating that it makes a difference whether art is shown in a gallery or publicly, especially in a training facility where students can't opt out. A study published in the journal "The Lancet Planetary Health" shows that food in hospitals and nursing homes can endanger health and the environment, adding to the concerns about the suitability of the exhibition in a medical setting.
An accident occurred near Weil der Stadt due to the brakes failing on a 49-year-old's VW. Meanwhile, the origin of life may lie in space, according to a fascinating insight. Seven paintings were initially turned around before the exhibition, but several women's files were not affected.

The vernissage was planned for a previous week. Despite the controversy, the exhibition will now be shown in full at Kunst im Werk II in Dusslingen, starting from 17 August.
