Vehicles Left Unattended in FW Hannover: Beware of Soaring Heat - Never Leave Children or Animals Inside
The city of Hannover is currently experiencing high temperatures, reaching up to 35°C today. This has prompted the Fire Department Hannover to issue an urgent warning against leaving children and dogs in parked vehicles during direct sunlight.
The German Weather Service (Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD) is responsible for providing official weather warnings, including heat and temperature risks. It's important to note that temperatures inside a vehicle can rapidly rise to dangerously high levels even when outdoor temperatures are above 20 degrees.
Exposure to such high temperatures can lead to heatstroke in both children and dogs. Heatstroke can cause permanent organ or nervous system damage, and in extreme cases, death. In fact, temperatures as low as 46°C, which can be reached within 15 minutes in a car at outdoor temperatures above 20°C, can be fatal.
In case of emergency involving a child or dog in a parked vehicle, call the fire and rescue service on 112 immediately. For non-emergency inquiries or further questions, you can contact the Fire Department Hannover at 0511 912-1293 or via email at [email protected].

Stay vigilant and keep your loved ones safe during these hot summer days.
