Water.org Aims to Reach 200 Million with New Leader and Innovative Solutions
Water.org, a global non-profit, aims to revolutionize access to safe water and sanitation. With a goal to reach 200 million people by 2030, it has already empowered over 81 million with access, mobilizing over $7.1 billion in capital. Janet Tinsley will lead this mission as the new Chief Global Impact Officer, starting October 3, 2025.
Water.org's innovative approach combines philanthropy, investment, and project development. Its three solutions—WaterCredit, WaterEquity, and WaterConnect—close the financing gap, expanding access to safe water and sanitation. These initiatives have proven successful, reaching more than 81 million people and mobilizing significant capital.
The need is urgent. Currently, 2.2 billion people, one in four globally, lack access to safe water. This lack impacts health, time management, and opportunities for women and families. Water.org's mission aligns with the global goal of universal access by 2030. However, achieving this requires an estimated $114 billion per year, with a current shortfall of over $85 billion annually.
Water.org's innovative solutions and dedicated leadership, under Janet Tinsley's guidance, are crucial in accelerating progress towards universal access to safe water and sanitation. Expanding financial partnerships and investing in resilient infrastructure can bridge the funding gap, transforming lives and communities worldwide.
