The men were on maintenance duty at a manure pit when the accident took place early Saturday morning. The source of the lethal gas is currently unknown.

The 37-year-old employee, who was initially affected, lost consciousness, and his 28-year-old colleague, who tried to help, also succumbed to the gas and fainted.
