Workplace Accident Leaves 27-Year-Old Male With Critical Burns En route to the Hospital by Air Ambulance
A workplace accident occurred on Thursday afternoon, August 18, 2025, at a location that refines nickel in Schnaittach, Nuremberg Land district. The unfortunate incident involved a 27-year-old worker who was working directly at a hot nickel bath.
The specific cause of the worker's fall into the tank is unknown, and the accident is currently under further investigation. However, it is known that the worker typically works at a company where metal objects are coated with nickel for corrosion protection and aesthetic reasons. Nickel plating is a process of thinly coating the surface of objects with metal.
The nickel in the tank where the accident occurred was reportedly about 90 degrees Celsius hot. As a result, the worker sustained severe burns during the accident. The worker was immediately provided with first aid by colleagues before being transported to a hospital via helicopter.
The hospitalisation of the 27-year-old worker is a reminder of the risks associated with industrial work. Nickel plating, while useful for corrosion protection and giving items a shiny finish, can be dangerous if not handled properly.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. Our thoughts are with the injured worker and their family during this difficult time.
