Xiaomi, the renowned global technology company, has unveiled an innovative update to its Security application, featuring an AI-driven car accident detection system [1][3][4]. This cutting-edge feature uses a combination of integrated sensors, such as the gyroscope and accelerometer, and AI algorithms to automatically detect car accidents.

The system works by continuously monitoring for signs of a violent car crash or sudden impact, analysing quick, strong changes in motion and vibrations detected by the phone’s sensors. It also processes loud audio cues like screams or loud bangs that could indicate an accident using AI algorithms [2].

Upon detecting a possible crash, the phone issues immediate high-priority alerts with strong vibrations and loud auditory notifications, prompting the user to respond and confirm whether they are okay. If the user does not respond within a preset period, indicating a possible unconscious or incapacitated state, the app automatically initiates a call to emergency services (default number 120 in China) [2].

Simultaneously, the app notifies any designated emergency contacts set by the user with a precise location and a status message to enable faster assistance [2]. The phone can also share the real-time location with first responders to ensure they can find the user quickly.

To maximize reliability during emergencies, the app optimizes battery consumption by disabling non-essential services and prioritizing connectivity for emergency communication [2]. This AI-powered feature is seamlessly integrated into the broader Xiaomi Security app ecosystem (version 10.9.6-250710.0.1) and represents Xiaomi’s step toward offering real-world emergency safety support beyond traditional smartphone security functions.

Users can enable this life-saving feature via the latest app update from official sources or related system enhancers. The updated application is available for download from the Play Store [5]. With this new feature, Xiaomi aims to expand its security tools beyond mobile device protection, offering help to users in critical car accident scenarios when they cannot do so themselves.

In addition to the car accident detection feature, the updated application also includes improved malware protection [6]. The new version boasts an intuitive user interface, making it easier for users to navigate and manage their security settings.

Recent economic data shows that Ecuador's economy grew by 3.4% in the first quarter of 2025 due to the recovery of consumption [7]. This growth reflects the ongoing success of tech companies like Xiaomi, which continue to innovate and offer cutting-edge technology to consumers worldwide.

The car accident detection system introduced by Xiaomi's updated Security application also incorporates AI algorithms to recognize loud audio cues, such as screams or loud bangs, that might signal an accident [2]. Moreover, to expand its services beyond mobile device protection, Xiaomi has integrated elements of health-and-wellness, like the AI-powered car accident detection, into the broader Xiaomi Security app ecosystem [2].
